ChorltonFM 87.7
Chorlton Arts Radio, the online radio station we set up last year is back in Chorlton Precinct and this time it’s an RSL licensed station meaning that it transmits on your FM dial on 87.7FM across South Manchester thanks to funding received from the Big Lottery Fund.
This year it’s on from 16th to 29th May and includes a Chorlton wide pub quiz where 10 bars will compete to be the brainiest bar, each competing by listening to the radio and playing in their pub.
There’s been food demonstrations with live cooking and once again we’ve had a live radio play performed every lunch time in the precinct.
We’ve also had 6 original hours of comedy written and performed for us.
We’re in the process of setting up Chorlton Arts Radio again. It will be online and this year on 87.7FM across South Manchester.
We’re broadcasting from a shop in Chorlton Precinct again and we’ve just got the keys. It’s an ex Polish shop and needs a little work!
We’ll be in there most weekends selling raffle tickets to help raise funds to run the project, come down and see us!
We’re currently planning some radio documentaries featuring ordinary people with extraordinary lives.

AudioMint’s Dave Murat is up for an award!
He’s been nominated for a Digital Hero award and could win £5,000 for his work setting up Chorlton Arts Radio in May 2010.
Digital Hero awards are given to outstanding individuals, working within UK community groups or charities, who are using the power of digital technology to implement bright ideas which bring about positive social change. The awards will be used to fund both new and existing digital projects.

Today we did an outside broadcast for allfm in Manchester.
This involved a group of young people from MYVP and a group of older people mostly over 90 from Age Concern in Gorton.
It took place at manchester’s peoples history museum in the city and revolved around memories of times gone by
An outside broadcast is easier and cheaper to set up than you think.
Most organisations are happy to have something going on in their premises during the day and welcome stations with open arms.
We’ve set 2 up today, in a museum and an old persons resource centre, and we’ve run them from shops bars, shopping centres and hotel bedrooms.
