radio training and management

I have many years experience training volunteers in radio, I’ve worked with Manchester’s longest running Community radio stations (WFM and ALLFM) as well as its newest (GAYDIO – since its first RSL in 2006) and I set up my own full time online station which has had 2 RSLs (short term FM licences) as well – ChorltonFM.

I’ve experience of working in Commercial and BBC radio as well as live and pre-recorded Traffic Announcing on BBC local and Commercial stations.

Radio Training

Regardless of background, experience or ability I can provide tailored training programs that will get the best from your volunteers. I’ve taught people from 8-80+ and some of our trainees have gone on to Commerical and BBC radio stations.

I’m PTLLS qualified and fully aware of the requirements and needs of community radio stations to provide experience and new life skills to the local community. I’ve even been shortlisted for a national Digital Engagement award for setting up ChorltonFM.

I’ll teach your volunteers all of the skills they’ll need to create their own show, such as:

- Radio Clocks,
- Show Planning
- Intros/Outros
-Interview Techniques
-Audio Recording and Editing
-Content Creation
-Desk Driving
-Playout system
-Presenting Techniques
-Radio Law

Whatever your budget, and I appreciate money is tight, I can sort something out for you.

Station Management and Consultancy

Do you want to expand the reach of your event? add a new dimension to a festival? Install radio as a learning school in your youth centre or club or add an extra dimension to your website using live or prerecorded radio.

AudioMint can setup all kinds of radio projects, I have many years experience in installation, broadcasting, production and training. From a short term radio station on FM (known as an RSL) or the internet to a permanent radio station I’ve done them all!

I’ll guide you through the necessary paperwork, licencing and hire or purchase of equipment. I’ll help you recruit volunteers or paid staff and advise you on programming and content.

I can design, install and train budding DJ’s for all types of groups. I recently installed an internet radio station and studio at a new £5m Youth Centre in Manchester. This will give the young people of the area the opportunity to express themselves and provide them with new transferrable skills in an interesting and entertaining way.

I run ChorltonFM a radio station that promotes the Chorlton Arts Festival and provides an additional performance space for two weeks from a shop front in the local precinct, it’s now a fulltime Internet Radio Station.

In 2011 During it’s 14 day broadcast it hosted 110 live acts including a 21 member choir, numerous live bands and staged 10 live radio plays. Shows were presented by local volunteers including a number of 8-11 year olds from the local theatre school and 2 local high schools.

In October 2010 Chorlton Arts Radio was shortlisted for a TalkTalk Digital Hero Award, a national competition to recognise the work of groups who bring about social change using digital technology. AudioMint owner Dave Murat was one of three people selected in the NorthWest that the public voted for.
